Three sides of the See-Thru have cut-outs for access to ports and indicator lights.Īdditionally, there are special ventilation slits placed along the bottom to help prevent overheating.Īs soon as I assembled the See-Thru, I opened my MBP lid and noticed that the range of motion on the hinge was slightly limited due to the top and bottom pieces of the case rubbing together. The exterior finish on the polycarbonate case is glossy, yet fingerprint resistant. Once assembled, the See-Thru covers most of the external surfaces of the MBP. However, when attaching the bottom portion it is important to make sure that the rear hooks are firmly in place. On the bottom of the foam filling is a set of instructions on how to attach each piece to your laptop.īoth parts of the See-Thru are very easy to install. This visually appealing package not only evokes the user’s imagination on it’s use, but it is also easy to remove (I have a long term deep hatred for clamshell casing) and leaves behind a negligible about of waste. The 2 piece case is filled with a supportive foam core and shrink-wrapped. The See-Thru is wrapped in minimal packaging. Join today to discover epic gadgets you didn't know you needed! I thought that the silver finish was anodized. You can see corrosion in older aluminum boat hulls. It might not work as well in acidic conditions or tough environments with exposure to salts. Aluminum itself is pretty resistant to corrosion like stainless steel rapid corrosion forms a protective layer of aluminum oxide which reforms quickly when scratched.

Most aluminum alloy wheels are clear coated to add a layer of corrosion resistance, and any scuffs can be buffed out with a mild abrasive (like a clear coat on paint).

Some alloys can be made to be very tough, but I don't know if Apple would be using those. but that should come off with a mild cleaner.īare aluminum (or an alloy) isn't necessarily all that tough. I could see a Speck case possibly scuffing the aluminum. Aluminum is pretty tough and it would be fairly difficult for a plastic case to scratch it unless there was something abrasive between the cover and the case (such as sand or something like that). I would be somewhat surprised if the Speck cover actually scratched your case. There is no "re spraying" option as the MacBook isn't sprayed to start with.
